EMOTIONAL REGULATION

Do you find it hard to control your emotions? Do you sometimes get triggered, then react and then feel bad for “how you showed up?”

As humans, we are designed to experience the full spectrum of emotions. You might find yourself thinking you “feel too much” or are “too sensitive”. There are times when emotions can feel overwhelming, leading to stress, frustration, or a sense of being “out of control.”

Emotional regulation serves as a toolbox for navigating your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviours in a healthy way. It involves understanding and managing the ups and downs that life throws at you. It is important to remember that regulating your emotions does not mean suppressing them.

If you find it challenging to manage your emotions, therapy offers a supportive journey to develop a healthier relationship with your feelings. It can help you discover the power to embrace and love your emotions, letting go of any shame and guilt you may associate with them. Therapy reassures you that feeling the full range of emotions is normal, providing tools to manage them in a way that feels in alignment with you. As a result,  you can show up for yourself and others in a way that feels good for you!
