Meet Hope
Written by Hope Cavallo
I want to share my story with you.
As we all know, life has its moments of joy as well as it’s moments of pain and hardship. Losing my dad suddenly at the age of 25 shook my world and changed it forever. Losing my friend, a young mom, to cancer made me realize how precious and short life is. Living overseas and travelling to many different countries with my husband and two boys for a few years was one of the most amazing life experiences, but also some of the hardest times of my life. It led to my family unit falling apart which ultimately ended in divorce. Watching my children experience such terrible hurt during that time was heartbreaking. To go along with it, I developed health issues. I had become so disconnected from my "self," I had forgotten to breathe.
Fast forward to now, I am living the life of my dreams. I live with my husband and youngest son (age 22) in Vernon, British Columbia. I struck the jackpot and found the nicest guy on the planet who treats my boys and I like gold. I'm living a life where I have let go of the guilt and shame that haunted me for years. Through practice, I’ve learned that what I focus on is what I will manifest. By consciously choosing new thoughts, I raise my vibration and, as a result, my world has become so much brighter.
For many years, a close family member struggled with mental health challenges. It was beyond difficult. I wanted to do everything I could to help them get onto a positive path to health and wellness, but I recognized that it’s their journey and not mine. Eventually, I needed to take a step back and let them know I would always be there to listen, offer support, and provide guidance and unconditional love, but ultimately I didn’t have control over the situation. I needed to show up each day as my best self, aligned and balanced in all areas of wellness. Don't get me wrong, I still have the occasional day when I feel overwhelmed and I stay in my PJs for the day. After all, we are all human.:)
These days I choose to envision a positive outcome rather than worry about things that may never happen. One of my dear friends who passed away taught me the power of positivity and the importance of appreciating the small things in life that we often take for granted. We are all living the human experience and no one has the perfect life. All of us experience challenges and triumphs; what is most important is how we choose to deal with these situations.
My career as an educator has fulfilled me in so many ways. I was a middle school teacher for 20 years before deciding, in 2012, to obtain my Masters in Counselling Psychology so that I could accomplish my lifelong dream of being a high school counsellor.
Working with youth and young adults is a passion of mine. In addition, supporting parents who need guidance in strengthening their relationship with their teens is another passion of mine. Furthermore, it brings me great pride when I’m able to help women with transformations in all areas of life.
I would be honoured to sit with you and listen to your story. I look forward to walking alongside you on your healing journey.
