I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor based in Vernon, BC. I have extensive experience assisting teens, adults of all ages, and parents (especially moms!) in both educational and mental health environments. My collaborative and holistic approach to counselling is rooted in strong relationships with my clients.

Reaching out can be tough, and a bit of fear is common when considering counselling. You are stronger and braver than you realize. We all need a little extra support at times. If you are wanting to create positive change in your life, I am here for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You have the choice of four different therapy options: in-person, walk and talk, phone or video sessions. Hope provides in-person counselling and walk and talks in Vernon and virtual counselling across all of BC.

  • No problem! Hope is flexible with her availability and offers appointments during the day, evenings, and weekends (Sundays too upon request). We recommend that you book your preferred appointment dates online to ensure availability as evening and weekend appointments fill up fast.

  • Hope works with individuals: teens and adults of all ages.

  • Hope is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). BC Medical does not currently cover Registered Clinical counsellors (RCC), but if you have extended health benefits, they may cover all or a portion of the fee. RCC’s are recognized by most major insurance providers, including Canada Life, Pacific Blue Cross, Great West Life, Green Shield, and Sunlife. It is important to check with your healthcare provider to make sure. After each session, Hope will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your provider for reimbursement.

  • Yes! Hope offers online/tele-health counselling for teens and adults of all ages. In these online counselling sessions (phone or video), clients enjoy being in the comfort of their own home, sitting in their car, or while they are out for a walk.

    If you choose virtual counselling services, once you have gone through the booking process and selected your appointment time, you will receive an email with the link to our secure and private online platform. The Jane app is fully compliant with Canadian privacy regulations. Online sessions are completely private and any audio, video, and chat communications will not be recorded. All information is encrypted and none of the data is ever stored. Online counselling sessions work best while using a computer or laptop that supports Chrome or Firefox. If you will be using an iOS device (iPad, iPhone) you will need to download the Jane Online Appointment App from the apple store.

  • Hope recommends booking regular weekly or biweekly sessions until the issues/struggles you are experiencing begin to ease up, and then greater length between sessions can be scheduled until you feel you have accomplished your therapy goals. Consistency is important to build the therapeutic relationship and for your personal growth. Hope would be happy to discuss scheduling options with you further for your personal needs.

  • Counselling offers many benefits, including a new perspective from someone who is not involved in your everyday life. Counselling can support your personal growth, provide helpful tools with navigating relationships and family, and the matters of your daily life. Together, we can explore your personal goals and values, find ways to manage anxiety and stress, and cope with other emotional pressures you experience. Our counselling sessions are not limited to any one area, but are open to explore what YOU want to in order to improve your mental wellness.

  • You are not alone in this feeling. Counselling can be a new and vulnerable experience for people, and being nervous about sharing personal information and your innermost thoughts and feelings with others is completely normal. It is courageous to reach out for help. You are so brave to realize you need support. Hope Blooms Counselling is a safe space where you can share your nervous or fearful feelings without being judged. If you would like to talk about this further during a free phone consultation, Hope would be happy to.

  • If you do not feel ready to share something vulnerable in your life, you do not have to share. Hope will never push you to share things you are not ready to share with her. We will explore the hard things when YOU are ready to share. If you are nervous to talk about something with Hope, that can be discussed as well. Please feel free to bring all that you are experiencing and wanting to talk about to each session.

  • To book with Hope, it is $155 + GST per 50 minute session.

  • To cancel an appointment, please let Hope know 48 hours before your scheduled appointment time. You can cancel online or you can contact Hope directly (email or text). If you are cancelling your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged half of the session fee. If you fail to notify Hope with less than 24 hours notice, or do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged the full session fee.

    If you need to change to a virtual appointment (even at the last minute) there will be no additional charge!

  • Some people seek counselling when they are struggling with big life transitions, or experiencing a lot of change in their lives. Others may seek support in response to anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, struggles with self-esteem or self-worth, relationship hardship, identity struggles, feeling overwhelmed or just needing a safe space to talk with someone. Some people will come to Counselling with a goal or something they would like to work on in their counselling sessions and others may reach out for help knowing they need support but not knowing what they need support with. When you meet with Hope, you will always be met with a non-judgemental, compassionate space where you will be heard, seen and understood.

  • That is okay! If you are unable or not ready to seek counselling at this time, but are interested in learning more about topics related to mental health and personal growth, check out our resource page for affordable services that can be accessed by all people. There are also podcasts, books and other helpful tools to check out as well!

  • If you need immediate help or are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact the Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline at 9-8-8 or visit your nearest emergency room.

  • Counselling can offer many benefits, including but not limited to:

  • Hope uses a collaborative approach to therapy, incorporating different evidence-based therapy models and modalities depending on the client’s needs. The therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor is recognized as a crucial part to the success of the therapy experience. 30 Days to A Closer Connection with your Teen is a 4 week online, self-paced workshop that helps parents better understand and support their teens through the challenges of adolescence. Hope’s strategies and tools will help parents strengthen their relationships with their teens, so communication and bonds between parents-teens are stronger than ever!
